Chemical Peels

A chemical peel uses a solution applied to your skin to remove dead skin cells and stimulates the production of new skin cells. It tightens your skin, reduces fine lines and restores a more youthful appearance. Chemical peels can improve wide variety of skin conditions such as fine lines, uneven pigmentation, shallow acne scars, and sun damaged skin and age spots.

The depth of the peel depends on the type of chemical used. During initial consultation we would perform full skin assessment and will advise you on the peel that is most suitable for your specific skin concern. About 2 weeks before undergoing a chemical peel, a patient must prepare his or her skin by applying recommended product at home.

A chemical solution is applied to the skin to accelerate the removal of old, damaged skin cells at the surface of the skin. You will feel heat and some tingling in the area which last for few minutes. After the peel your skin feels tight or dry which can go on for few days. You may also notice some shedding which would be more obvious with deeper peels. Results obtained depend on the strength of the peel, duration of contact with the skin and the type of the peels and this will be discussed in the detail during your consultation.

Following any peel, it is important that you avoid sun exposure. Your new skin is sensitive and susceptible to injury. Because layers of skin cells have been removed, the skin more easily damaged by trauma, the sun and more easily absorbs unwanted chemicals. You would fully be advised on a proper home skincare treatment program to ensure fast and optimum healing.

A course of 4 to 6 treatment at 3 to 4 weeks interval depending on the condition and type of skin treated.
